So I'm writing a book! Hoorah!
It's about how to use craft (knitting specifically) for the greater good in the context of the personal, the community and the global. I'm really excited about this project and thought I'd ask you some questions that I've been looking for answers to. Below is a short list of the kinds of things I'm looking for, and even further down is a set of questions pertaining to craft and knitting.

If you knit I have some questions for you. If you don't knit, feel free to pass this along to anyone who does OR answer the questions replacing the word "craft" for "knitting!" I know I could use one of those fancy survey thingies, but by putting the questions in email format, then people can write as much or as little as they want.

I'm in the middle of researching all of this, and am looking for people to interview. Some of you I may contact individually, but one thing I've found out with this is that pretty much everyone has a story to add even if they don't knit.

I'm currently looking for:
*stories that relate to the knitting experience/craft and the conversation it can facilitate
*historical and international examples of radical knitting/crafting for a cause
*patterns that can be used for protest/charitable donations



Have any ideas?
Maybe your grandmother was an arpillerista? Or you have an amazing pattern that you make and send off to loved ones/charitable organizations? Or maybe you struck up a conversation with someone using hand signals and 2nd grade French with a stranger on the bus about your knitting?

If so, I want to hear from you! If not, you are more than welcome to pass this along to anyone and everyone, and as always, I love to hear stories and ideas of whom I could contact/where I should look for resources that may be more hidden than, say, Google or the library.

10. Is there a cause you? think needs to have handmade donations? If so, what is the cause and what would you make?
